Les Challonnieres is a beautiful half-timbered cottage built in approximately 1750, near Domfront, Orne, Normandy. It is set in half an acre of enclosed gardens including an orchard with apple, pear and damson trees. It is situated about 2 miles from the local village of Lonlay L'abbaye with its bakers, post office, and mini supermarket, and 4 miles from the medieval town of Domfront which has all the shops you could want including two supermarkets.

There are several golf courses, and a good selection of restaurants in area, as well as a small sandy lakeside beach within 20 minutes drive.

Front of cottage

The cottage has been tastefully restored yet retains all of its character including oak beams and a huge stone chimney so typical of the area. It is furnished to an exceptionally high standard and provides every home comfort.

Heating is provided by a wood burning stove in lounge, oil filled radiators in lounge and dining room plus electric radiators in bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms. There are also two cooling fans for hot summer nights.

Double gate to gravel driveway, with parking for one car and double gate to garden, parking for several cars. South facing lawned areas to the front, as well as at both sides and rear with lots of trees providing shade. To the rear there is a small orchard providing apples, pears, damsons and blackcurrants (please help yourselves!). This backs onto woods on two sides and our neighbour on the third.

The dining room and sitting room both have doors leading to the south-facing patio, with a table, 4 chairs and parasol. We also provide a BBQ, four sun loungers, two relaxers, badminton, volleyball and quoits. The front garden overlooks fields but is hidden from the lane by shrubs. There is also a very small pond to the side of the house.
